Poor quality course, even though it was free!

I chose the course: 'Responsive Website Basics: Code with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript' I didn't fancy paying £65 for it and so I applied for free funding from Coursera and while waiting for their decision I began the first couple of modules, which were free anyway.

The course moves along at a fairly rapid pace, but it soon became apparent that this a low quality affair, using 'tutors' who seemed very ill at ease with the subject. At times it was hard work just listening to them.

In addition the course title was misleading. This course does not teach CSS and Javascript, but instead Bootstrap and JQuery. These are CSS and Javascript libraries, and while learning them is certainly useful, it encourages the student to ignore the vital underlying CSS and Javascript fundamentals.

Finally, the VS code sandbox provided for file submission is very flaky. I found submitting files for assessment to be a hit and miss process and simply not worth my time.

On the day my approval for free funding came through from Coursera, I had had enough and deleted my account. This is not for me, and I feel genuinely sorry for anyone who has actually handed over money for this course.

$54 keeps being deducted but cannot finish course!!!!

I purchased Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate, but due to Coursera system errors, I cannot finish my course, I tried to post in the forum. I contacted the help center (ticket number: 03303598)
for 2 months but nothing is working out. Coursera keeps deducting A$54 from my bank monthly. It is a such bad experience and a waste of money!!!

The ability to unsubscribe to monthly…

The ability to unsubscribe to monthly payments for enrolled courses is so difficult it basically borders on a scam. Shame on you coursera you do all your educators a disservice.

Coursera canceled my ALMOST COMPLETED course.

My CC expired so they couldn't charge, I updated the card on file but there is literally no way of paying a past due amount and they never auto charged.
There was no way to reach them by phone, no chat option and never responded to my request via the contact us page.
It's like they didn't want me to pay, GAVE ME NO OPTIONS ON HOW TO PAY and JUST CANCELED ALL OF MY PROGRESS, so wasted my time when I could have used a different company.

The worst technical support ever!

When you open the case, you will not get case number by email, chat is not working, waiting for days

Can’t unsubscribe from emails

Clicking unsubscribe in their emails leads to a blank page. Had to do about 12 steps to unsubscribe from their site. Not good.

Coursera is legit bad news

Coursera is legit bad news. If you are looking for a one-way plan with the most challenging cancellation plan on the planet, here it is.
After noticing my credit card getting charged a whopping 8 times at 49.00 a pop, it was time to admit I simply don't have time for this program. Folks, that's $392.00 for something I did not use. When it dawned on me, "hey, that's dumb" I decided to log in to COURSERA.ORG and cancel my subscription. I am no Physics Professor but I know how to navigate a website and this one is DEFINITELY designed to strangle any notion of leaving. Thirty minutes in, and being looped over 25 times, I googled a few places that help with this which COURSERA took the liberty to correct on their sight, so that failed. Only canceling my credit card and completely deleting the account is all they offer to anyone trying to leave.
I would compare this to a cult-like mentality. If you leave your "out", no coming back, persona non grata.

Beware before buying, and be sure to get your certificates printed as they claim "nothing is retrievable here, once out it over, and don't come crying to us for your degree". LOL.
That's it, hope this helps some soul lost in the maze of crazy over there. Oh, and the is NO tech support.

Awful ‘support’ system lets it down

The platform offers amazing options, and courses are often excellent, but Coursera’s own support system is dreadful, showing no care or decency when something goes wrong: an awful way to treat paying students, for many of whom these courses may be their only opportunities.
